Hansjörg Thurn completed film studies in Dortmund with the "Ruhrgebiet director" Adolf Winkelmann and Professor Claudia von Alemann. Further training in dramaturgy and production took place in the following years with Frank Daniels, Matthias Seelig, Wolfgang Kohlhaase, Krzysztof Zanussi, Mark W. Travis and then in the USA with Judith Weston. After years as a journalist, Thurn worked on the development of the remake of Götz George's "Schimanski" and wrote several screenplays for it. He wrote and directed his first feature films with "The Harpist" and "Marmor, Stein & Eisen". With "Seventeen - Mädchen sind die besseren Jungs" began a successful work as a writer and director of television films in a variety of genres. Thurn made his first historical film with the Mini-Series „Treasure Island". The comedy "Barfuss bis zum Hals" received nominations for the Grimme Award and the German Television Award and was awarded the German Comedy Award. "Die Wanderhure“ („The Whore“) was an enormous success with audiences, paving the way for a number of other historical films in Germany. As a charity project, he created the multi-media exhibition "Bildersucht & Cyberflucht" ("Image Addiction & Cyber Escape") together with the nationwide Fachverband Medienabhängigkeit e.V. ("Media Addiction Association"). With "Earth - Rebellenzeit" he has published the third part of his novel trilogy. Thurn's first play "freiheit.pro" premiered at the Staatstheater Augsburg in November 2019. Currently he is working on various film projects.
